A worker at Warehouse Stationery, a man with a photograph. These were the humble beginnings of New Zealand Unseen. It was during a characteristically dull day working at the copy centre when inspiration struck Unseen founder, Niko Elie. An older gentleman walked in wanting an old photograph of Ponsonby Road scaled up into a poster size. This is where the penny dropped, a passion for New Zealand history blended with modern printing techniques like Warehouse Stationery used. For months, Niko searched for photography that was both breathtaking and legal to use. Little by little, he expanded his collection and designed a series of collections. Designing his own website and social media platforms, he finally launched New Zealand Unseen. Like a mother birthing a baby, painfully and slowly. But nevertheless, it is now out there!
